This free public talk explored the 1916-1923 period from the viewpoint of Dublin’s firefighters, many of whom were also active revolutionaries. It was part of a series of talks exploring aspects of our exhibition ‘1916: Tales from the Other Side’, which is open to the public until December 2016.
Las Fallon, a Dublin firefighter with 30 years service, is the author of Dublin Fire Brigade and the Irish Revolution (2012) and ‘The Firemen`s Tale: the burning of the Custom House 1921’ (2015). He has also contributed to the forthcoming volume ‘Dublin City Council and the 1916 Rising’.
