Heritage Week 2026

We are teaming up with St. Patrick’s Cathedral again this year, holding bookmaking workshops in their fantastic, new, dedicated workshop space, the Deanery Mews building.

Children’s workshops

When: Wednesdsay 19th August  11.00 (morning) & Wednesday 19th August 13.00 (afternoon)

Pop-in for this hour-long session and make some pop-out and pop-up mechanisms to create your very own children’s book.  This workshop is inspired by the pop-up book, Gulliver in Lilliput, currently on display in the library, which celebrates the 300th anniversary of the publication of Gulliver’s Travels.

In this 2-hour bookmaking workshop, you will create your own handsewn A6 sized casebound notebook with lace bookmark.  Learn the simple techniques for constructing your textblock using French links and kettle stitches.  You will finally create your own casebinding to produce a unique book to use as a notebook, sketchbook or journal to take home.
